The AirRay convinces the international jury of experts of the German Design Awards and wins in the category "Excellent Product Design". Only recently, the collection of three models was presented to the public for the first time at the IAA Mobility in Munich. The special feature: The R Raymon AirRay combines typical trailbike playfulness, with compact power and ideal battery capacity to enhance your ride. With the AIR DRIVE motor powered by Yamaha (50 Nm torque), a slim 2.8 kg carbon frame along with agile handling and superb driving dynamics, the new R Raymon AirRay really makes an impact as a lightweight (under 20 kg) 29" light e-MTB with full 150 mm suspension. It combines the best of three worlds: Motor performance, battery capacity and optimized weight.
The German Design Awards are the premium award of the German Design Council. With its worldwide spectrum and international appeal, it is one of the most prestigious awards in the design landscape across all industries. Since 2012, the German Design Awards have been identifying significant design trends, presenting them to a broad public and honouring them. Every year, extraordinary submissions in product design, communication design and architecture are honoured. In the year of its tenth anniversary, the award, in the spirit of the pioneering design theorists Horst Rittel and Melvin Webber, has the motto »How designers think«. Special attention is paid to the many ways in which designers find answers to increasingly complex issues, from new digital technologies to climate-neutral production. The German Design Awards highlight these groundbreaking solutions and honours the people behind them.
"We are very pleased that our AirRay has already received a renowned design award shortly after its first presentation. It shows that we have correctly assessed the needs of the market. We deliberately did not choose the strongest motor torque and the maximum battery capacity for the three models, but rather made sure that the three pillars - motor, battery and weight - were harmoniously balanced," says Felix Puello, CEO of PIERER E-Bikes GmbH.
